The Face of Robert E. Lee, 69.

This image was one of the most popular depictions of Lee all through the South. In the years after the Civil War, Lee found great comfort in Traveller, who shared his master''s fame. So beloved was Traveller that much of his mane and tail were removed by over-eager souvenir hunters.
