This ship could be The Alliance, which ran from Le Havre to Southampton beginning in 1855. Warnod was a photographer active in Paris at 16 Passage Jouffroy and Le Havre (Seine Maritime) from the early 1850s until about 1867. He was associated with Angelo Caccia (1802-1877) in Le Havre from 1861. Warnod was born Jean Victor Macaire but changed his last name to that of his wife. In the early 1850's, working with his brother Cyrus Macaire in Le Havre he made instantaneous photographs of maritime scenes that received great acclaim. See Ken Jacobson's The Lovely Sea-View, pg 26-30 and Jean-Jacques Henry's Photographie, les debuts en Normandie (1989) for more information.
