Andy Goldsworthy
1983
Bretton Hall, Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Gelatin silver print
19.8 x 25cm (7 7/8 x 9 7/8in)

Bloomsbury Auctions - London
Auction, Photographs, 23 November 2012, Lot a227

This diptych dates from the first time Goldsworthy worked on the Bretton estate, as a participant in the International Sculpture Centre Symposium. Whilst there, he created a number of ephemeral works, including a performance in which he physically entered the earth beneath a tree, documented by photographs. This visit would mark the beginning of a long working relationship with Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
