On the reverse of the postcard in an unknown hand "Eugène Atget et Michel / c 1912."
 
Research by Peter Spangenberg (pers. email, 19 April 2012) indicates that the date the photograph was likely taken between 1909 and June 1911. The card shows Atget reading "Le Petit Parisien" and the identity of seated man "Michel" is currently unknown.
