Unidentified photographer
1939-1860 (ca, taken, daguerreotype?) 1856-1865 (ca, tintype)
A tintype copy of a portrait of a woman with a lace cap

Tintype, cased
The Indiana Album Inc.
Collection name: Arnold Family Collection, Catalog Number: ia-0145-0095

2 7/8 x 2 5/8 in. cased copy tintype of an older woman wearing a white cap. Her cheeks are tinted pink. Her clothing looks old fashioned, she could possibly be a Quaker. Although the image is fairly well focused, once it is removed from the case it is obvious from the top edge that this is a copy of an older photograph, possibly a daguerreotype which would date the original to the 1839-1860 era. The copy tintype dates from ca. 1856 through 1865.

Stamped on the edge of the brass matt is: "HOLMES BOOTH & HAYDENS SUPERFINE" AND "WATERBURY CONN NO 4?" [41 or 42?].
