INSCRIPTION: recto-(printed) "Daguerréotype. Expérience publique faite par M. Daguerre. Un Physicien Napolitain J.B. Porta, trouva la Chambre noire il y a environ deux siècles. Les images qui se peignaient sur la papier, pouvaient être reproduites en suivant leurs contours avec la pointe d'un crayon. Au 19e. siecle notre compatriote Charles fit les premiers essais de l'art photographique mais son secret mourut avec lui…." (Cromer inscription in pencil) "j'ai l'album complet …(illeg.)"
