Lucretia Coffin Mott (3rd January, 1793-11th November, 1880). Born into an American Quaker family in Nantucket, Lucretia Coffin and her husband James Mott were opponents of slavery and often sheltered runaway slaves in their home. They co-founded the Pennsylvania Anti-Slavery Society and became deeply involved in abolition, social reform and women`s rights movements. She wrote Discourse on Woman in 1850, a book about restrictions on women in the US and when slavery was outlawed in 1865, she fought to give black Americans the vote. She died at the age of 87.
