(Ann Vibeke Knudsen, 24 April 2026) In 1869-1870, photographer Johan Hansen was commissioned by the County Governor of Bornholm, the archaeology enthusiast Emil Vedel, to photograph the Bornholm monoliths. 44 pictures were taken - some of them taken by photographer Støckel in Rønne. The most monoliths were on the east side of Bornholm - 39 photographs are from Johan Hansen's hand.
The photographer showed the pictures at the Industrial Exhibition in Copenhagen in 1872.
