It's just a rumour that was spread around town
A telegram or a picture postcard
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyard
And notifying the next of kin.

The sinking of the General Belgrano outside the UK 'exclusion zone' and on its way to port remains the most notorious incident of the Falklands War. The Thatcher government has succeeded so far in hiding many facts, including that of the cover-up itself, in a cloak of Official Secrecy. The truth is enough eventually to sink her.
