(Kent Thompson, 7 January 2022) … showing John Engle who was active for 50 years (1857-1907) up & down the east coast of the US, and down into Mexico for a stint. He worked for both the Union and CSA as a photographer as well. Spent many years towards the end working in NC in both partnerships and as an itinerant photographer. One partner he was associated with was William H. Zoeller of Elizabeth City NC which is where this original print resides in a branch museum of the NCMOH. This photo is from the late 1800s and is from the Museum of the Albemarle/NC Museum of History.
