Two arrested in Want of L.A. Hotel Holdups

This is one of the earliest uses of of the expression "mug shot" in American media.
The first breat which led to the apprehension of the two bandits came when Hodges pawned a stolen wristwatch. With information obtained from the pawnshop owner's records, officiers were able to obtain a police photograph of Hodges, as he has a previous record.

Detectives then showed the "mugshot" to hotel clerks who had been robbed by the two men using a sawed-off shot gun and carrying a briefcase.
