(Joan Hostetler, 6 January 2021) Quarter plate daguerreotype in a full case of an unidentified young woman. "Metropolitan Gallery / Indianapolis, Ind" is stamped on the top of the decorative brass mat. Marked on the back of the leather case is "H. A. Eickmeyer, Patent. Feb. 27, 18??." Patents show that Henry A. Eickmeyer patented this case on February 27, 1855. The Metropolitan Gallery was located in College Hall at 43 1/2 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, United States.
