Archive Farms Label on verso: "Patent Talbotype or Sun Pictures. A Great Variety of specimens On Sale at Messrs. BROOKS (Brothers), 87, Bond Street, London."
The photographs taken on board the HMS Superb have traditionally been credited to Nicholas Henneman, but a recent study published in the Autumn 2014 issue of The Photohistorian states that they were taken on September 26, 1845 by Talbot with Henneman acting as his assistant. Henneman then took the calotype negatives back to the newly-formed Reading Establishment and made the prints, including this one.
