Curatorial description (Acccessed: 1 December 2015)
The subject matter in Watkins' images from the Soviet Union was generally determined by the sites she visited as part of the Intourist program. She also found photographic subjects in the daily routines and scenes of Moscow's streets. Storefront window displays, such as the one in this image, caught her eye as they had done in Paris. Images of Lenin in the form of posters, busts (seen here) and public monuments also fell under her scrutiny.
