Bernhard Weiß was the director of the political section of the German police from 1920 - 1924 and as of 1927 the Vice Chief of police. He opposed violent acts of the KPD and NSDAP and had many opponents from both sides. Persecuted as a Jew and being Goebbel's personal enemy (in the NS press he was referred to as "Isador Weiß"), he lost his position in 1932, and after a short internment he emigrated to London where he died in 1951.
