Blue toned photograph of a view along escarpments of snow-covered peaks towards Makalu, the fifth highest mountain in the world. The view was taken south of the river Kama Chu which flows from the Kangshung Glacier.
This is a second photograph taken during the middle of August from a peak that lies to the south of the Kama valley. The Kama Valley was discovered purely by accident when a local guide led Mallory and Bullock into an adjacent southern valley when the guide assumed that Mallory wanted to climb Makalu, the fifth highest mountain in the world.
