The Jewish photographer Ignacy (Isaac) Krieger established his first photography studio in Krakow in 1860. The studio specialized in portraits but also historic views of Krakow which documented the many buildings and sites of the old city. Krieger's two oldest children Nathan and Amalia took over the studio and continued the firm under his name until 1926
