A group portrait of the daughters of Josiah Harpur (1825-1898) and Eliza Caroline Walker (1833-1902), Jane Henrietta Kidd Harpur (1857-1875) and Susanna Matilda Australia Harpur (1859-1873), with their nanny probably Jeremin (Sarah/Sally) Medley (1826-1892) and the family dachshund, in morocco covered wood case. Probably taken in Australia.

Jeremin (Sarah/Sally) Medley (1826-1892) was an Aboriginal woman of the Wiradjuri nation. Her teenage Aboriginal son, John Rowland Harpur was adopted by Henry Kidd Harpur and baptised with his children in 1854. She was presumably in service to Josiah Harpur at that time.
