Salt paper print, painted Private collection of Laurie Minor The portrait is in a case by Antoine Claudet (1797-1867) although who created the photograph and painted it is not certain. When the mat is removed one can see that the lady's sleeves were not painted. Mark Osterman (George Eastman House) said that "it is a very beautifully painted example of a salted paper print made from the collodion glass negative. The colored stippling effect resembles the technique used in ivory miniature painting, and is rarely found on a salted paper print.
