Abdullah frères 1900 (ca) Backmak for Abdullah Frères, Photographes de S.M.I. le Sultan. S. & J. Successeurs - Pera - Constantinople
Boudoir card, silver gelatin print, backmark 23 x 17 cm
Private collection of John Toohey The fact that the backmark includes "S. & J. Successeurs" is interesting. John Toohey (per. email, 2 June 2012) suggested that "this was taken at the time of the transition when Sebah and Joaillier were keeping the Abdullah Freres name going for commercial reasons. It raises the question of which studio was responsible for this portrait."
