Full view of the great Doric temple dedicated to Athena, the patron goddess of Athens, designed and built in the fifth century BC. Heavily damaged by an explosion in 1684. Noted for the extreme refinement of its details including the slight curvature of its carefully spaced columns.
(Alan Griffiths, 26 January 2026) I'm indebted to Claudio Santambrogio for the observation that one of Joseph-Philibert Girault de Prangey's camera tripods can be seen on the steps.
