Bottle of mercury with the label "For Daguerreotype"

Bottle
Archives of Modern Conflict OR National Gallery of Canada
The label on the bottle has the name and address of the supplier, John Roach, listed by Craig's Registry as having been at 82 Nassua St. NY from 1845 to 1854 but is generic as to what the label identifies by leaving a space for description above the name. There, an old penciled hand reads distilled mercury. The label is of the simple style popular in the 1840s. (Matt Isenburg)
