View of Imperial Kiosk at Kandili, Constantinople [Istanbul]. The kiosk, and the 'Sweet Waters of Asia', are situated on the Asian side of the Bosphorus. This is probably the kiosk where Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, was to lunch with the Sultan Abdulaziz in 1862, during his four-month tour of the Middle East. The Prince wrote in his diary that on 26 May, the royal party steamed on board the Royal Yacht Osborne to the 'Sweet Waters of Asia' before lunching "at a charming kiosk belonging to the Sultan. The Sultan made a great exception in eating with so many. … Everything went off very well & the Sultan was very civil."
