Private collection of Lawrence T. Jones III
Description provided by Lawrence T. Jones (Facebook, "Carte de Visite and Cabinet Card Photography", 2 Sept 2015)
Site of where Maximilian and Generals Miramon and Mejia were executed. Maximilian stood on the right. Note the object with Imperial crown and letter "M" on the ground beside his death spot. They were shot outside the city of Queretaro, Mexico at a location called "Cerro de las Campanas (Hill of the Bells). The location now is well within the city limits and is a well-manicured park. This site now is covered with a small chapel. You can look inside the chapel door and see markers placed where each of the three men stood. A very tall statue of Benito Juarez also is now in the park.
