On the river is a steam boat. The steamboat visible on the river is probably the Enterprise that was launched in 1863 and was in service until 1883. Its purpose was to transport travellers from Soda Creek to Quesnel as the Cariboo Road did not reach Quesnel due to the geography of the area. Peter Dunlevy was one of many who bought land on which to build shops and hotels which catered for visitors passing through Soda Creek during the Cariboo gold rush.
