Photograph of the General's Bunk in the Redan. The bunk is built from large stones and sandbags and has a doorway with a wooden frame. The ground around it is covered with debris. After an eleven month siege the city of Sevastopol was captured by the allied British, French and Turkish forces on 8th September 1855. Lefevre photographed a number of strategic fortresses shortly after they had been abandoned by the Russians.
