Right-reading view of a small town at the foot of a large hill, under a cloudy sky. Numerous business signs visible. Prominent at center is Robinson & Co. Other signs read: R. Barnes & Co. Cottage House Boarding and Lodging, Exchange Hotel, Sierra Hotel, Bakery, [?] Hotel, Polka, Vins & Liqueurs, [?] Bakery.
 
Although identified by accompanying note as Henry Robinson's store in Marysville, the geography is that of a town in the Sierra foothills. Topography is similar to Mormon Bar.
