(Alan Griffiths, 19 December 2025) The image displays an open book with a page on the left showing a color chart and a page on the right showing a photograph of that same color chart.
The left page is titled "Farbentafel" (Color Chart) and shows swatches of 16 different colors with their names printed below them.
The right page is titled "Photographie der nebenstehenden Farbentafel" (Photograph of the adjacent color chart) and displays the same colors as they appear in a monochromatic photograph.
The colors listed include various yellows, greens, reds, and blues, with names such as Naples Yellow, Chrome Yellow, Vermilion, Cobalt Blue, and Indigo.
The image demonstrates the difference between viewing colors in person versus how they were captured in early photography.
