Corfu. Memorial to Lieutenant-General Sir Thomas Maitland (1759-1824), with colonnade around exterior. Obelisk to Sir Howard Douglas (1776-1861) visible through trees on left. Maitland was the Governor of Corfu, as Lord High Commissioner of the Ionian Islands, 1815-23. Douglas also served as the Lord High Commissioner, 1835-40. The photograph is signed, captioned and dated in the negative, 'F Bedford Corfu'. The number in the Day & Son series is 134.
