(Michael Lehr, Facebook, Daguerreian Society, 5 June 2020) I first heard about this 6th plate dag in the late 1990s at Brimfield, I was told a dag of a circus cart was coming up for auction. I told the picker to buy it for me at any price, however they didn't listen and got out bid. A couple of years later I was told that it was available and I was sent some pretty horrible photos. I agreed to buy it in about 1999-2000. I met the dealer at Swanns where he handed it to me in a box and gave him a check. In 2001 we bought the apartment next to the one we owned and needed to finance the renovation to combine them. We sold it to Keith for the Hallmark Collection. It is now in The Nelson Atkins Art Museum. The plate is amazing, one of those images you can see from any angle.
