Photograph of Tsesarevna Maria Feodorovna (1847-1928), later Empress of Russia, and Grand Duke Nicholas Alexandrovich (1868-1918), later Nicholas II. Tsesarevna Maria Feodorovna is sitting on a low wall with her arms around Grand Duke Nicholas Alexandrovich who is standing beside her to the right. There are two books on the wall beside them to the right and a painted backdrop behind. Maria Feodorovna, born Princess Dagmar of Denmark, was the consort of Alexander III, Emperor of Russia. Her son Nicholas II was Emperor of Russia from 1894 until his enforced abdication in 1917. Along with his wife and children he was murdered by the Bolsheviks in 1918.
