Daguerreotype
National Science and Media Museum
Part of the Ellis group of daguerreotypes, Inventory no: 1890-56-R43

Landscape view of the Forum in Rome from the Senator's Walk, West End, looking West. Bollards and railings are in the foreground alongside an empty road. Beyond the bollards are a single column on the left. A group of eight columns with the remnants of a cornice and part of the entablature and pediment above (he Temple of Saturn) are seen in the centre of the image. Behind these and to the right are later buildings, tall, with somewhat random windows except for the top floor. Some windows have shutters.
