With Stieglitz's dated inscription to Norman, in pencil, on the original mount verso.
 
The inscription states "For Dorothy, Dec. 31 ''34" and features Stieglitz''s personal symbol. From the estate of Dorothy Norman. Alfred Stieglitz: The Key Set, 796 (variant). When Stieglitz and Norman first met, they were each in separate marriages, but the already important photographer quickly became her mentor, friend and lover. Through the years until his death, Norman recorded his life, producing two volumes of testimonials and his biography, "Alfred Stieglitz--An American Seer."
