Stereoscopy Private collection of C. Schwimmer Offered by W. Butcher & Sons, London. It may have been made for them in Germany. (this information per Paul Wing - see info and example on page 50). This is a very large (much larger than similar viewers) and finely made unit with brass hardware and finely shaped wooden eyepieces. Tilting top door with mirror, a sliding-back ground glass in the rear, and large round lenses Accommodates standard Holmes sized flat stereoviews. This is a handheld unit, but has a threaded socket for stand mounting. The stand on the photographed viewer is more modern for viewing use and display purposes.
