Notes: In 1848 Piot arrived in Greece, where he is believed to have been the first French photographer to use the paper negative process. In 1852, 109 of his views of Athens were published in two portfolios titled l'Acropole d'Athènes and Temples Grecs He exhibited Greek photographs at the 1855 Paris International Exhibition, where he was awarded a First Class Medal, and at the Société française de photographie in 1859.
