French quarter-plate daguerreotype of five handsome young gentlemen, dated 1849 on the back of the mount. Posed with a sense of arrogance, these lads seem ready to conquer the world. Perhaps this is a portrait to commemorate their graduation. Their leader seems to be posed center stage with his arm crossed and sporting a pair of striped pants. Done in a typical passe-partout presentation.
