Photograph of Scots Guards disembarking a ship at the quayside in Alexandria. There are rows of uniformed soldiers standing in front of the ship. A small group of spectators is facing them, one holding an umbrella. There are more soldiers standing to the left, carrying a range of equipment. One is holding a drum. The Anglo-Egyptian War of 1882 repressed the nationalist 'Urabi Revolt and led to increased British control of Egypt. The war began with the British bombarding Alexandria.
