Berlin photographer Yva, born Else Ernestine Neuländer, was a renowned fashion and portrait photographer of the interwar period. In 1936 Helmut Neustädter, who later became famous under the name Helmut Newton, became her assistant and she was Newton's teacher. She died in an Nazi camp in 1942.
