Unidentified manufacturer 1955 (ca) Verascope F40 Bakelite Viewer with Stand
Stereoscopy Private collection of C. Schwimmer This is a 35mm film stereo viewer. It is a deluxe viewer that was marketed with the Verascope F40 camera. It transposes stereo image pairs on uncut 35mm film for photos taken on mid-20th century 35mm stereo cameras. Typically the views from those cameras need to be cut and mounted to put them in the proper orientation for viewing, otherwise they would either appear backwards (not good if there is any text in the images), or in pseudo stereo where distant objects appear close and vice-versa). It uses natural light and has very good optics and adjustments. The photographed example is complete with a stand which was originally sold separately and is extremely scarce now. (This was the second version of this viewer.)
