Geoffrey Batchen, 2018, Apparitions Photography and Dissemination (NAMU & Power Publications) pointed out (pp. 113-116) that the plate on which this engraving was based "may well have been taken by or under the supervision of Richard Jr." the son of Richard Beard.
A daguerreotype variant of this presumably taken at the same sitting is in the Royal Collection UK (RCIN 2932501).
