Photograph (black and white), half of a mounted stereoscope photograph; portrait of three Native North American men at a payment, sitting on the ground outdoors; the man on the left, in profile, wears a feather hair ornament, a shell(?) necklace, a shirt, a pair of leggings, and is smoking a pipe; the man in the centre wears his hair in plaits, a eagle feather in his hair, ear ornaments, a jacket, an arm ornament, and a blanket over his legs; the man on the right, sits in profile, smoking a pipe, and wears a cloth headband, an ear ornament, and a pair of leggings; a wigwam (domed single-room dwelling) in the background; United States of America.

Acquisition/Associated name: This image is stored in a box labelled as "William Blackmore". There is no associated documentation to determine that the collection was acquired from the Blackmore Museum, Salisbury in 1932, at the same time as Blackmore albums within the BM Pictorial Collection.
Smithsonian Archives Catalogue Card: A copy of the catalogue card for this image can be found in the PicDoc for this image. The catalogue card indicates that the Smithsonian Institution owns a negative of this image, number: 56,660. The following further information is on the catalogue card:
"TRIBE: Unidentified: generla (Great Lakes?)
SUBJECT: Three men seated; two are smoking long pipes.
SUBMITTED BY: Copy (5/67) from scrapbook of James E Taylor, "Our Wild Indians in Peace & War: Surveys, Expeditions, Mining & Scenery of the Great West" [Ca. 1863-1900], p.17, (Prints Cat. No. 4605)
