According to Bergman the expedition was meant to be a practise for his planned expedition to Kamchatka. Some of the other members of the expedition were also financiers due to the membership in the Swedish noble society (Svenska Adelsförbundet). On the July, 3rd they travelled from Uddevalla on the motor ship "Trygve", and went to Siglafjord on northern Iceland. The photographs gives a varied and rich picture of Iceland with many views of the beautiful scenery, monuments, horses, fishes, portraits etc. Some members of the expedition also studied the icelanders and their attempts to grow forests, the icelandic birdlife, caravans of horses etc. Bergman later published the article "Ur Islands fågelvärld" (From the birdlife of Iceland).
