Amand Helm was born in 1831 in Teplice (now Czech Republic). His photographic career began in 1861 in Prague. Not long after this year he opened branch studios in Teplice and in Vienna. In 1864 he exhibited successfully his landscape photographs and photographs on porcelain at then Vienna Photographic Exhibition. In 1863-65 he made many Carte de visite with scenes of Prague. In 1870 he published in Vienna the Donau-Album with pasted original photographs of landscapes, towns and life on the shores of Donau. Probably in the same time he moved to Vienna. In 1888 he published new edition of his Donau-Album. He died about 1890.
