A man of many talents and interests. By profession he was a chemist, Assay Master and Master of the Mint for the Bank of Hamburg but his studies were wide ranging including minerology, entomology and the collection of scientific instruments. He took Daguerreotypes of his family and views of his father's estate at Harz.
