Rudinger was assigned to Austria while working for a major oil company. While there he learned bromoil and transfer from Dr. Emil Mayer. He then assisted Mayer in teaching transfer at a Bromoil School that Mayer established in Vienna. Rudinger left Austria at the outbreak of WWII and moved to New York City and then later moved to California.
