In 1864 during the American Civil War he made a series of stereocards of the 134th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. Photographed a series of stereographs under the auspices of the Union Pacific Railroad Company (UPRR) in the USA in October 1866 of the "Union Pacific Railroad Excursion to the 100th Meridian."
