Photograph of the Chattar Manzil, Lucknow. The building has four storeys and a series of umbrella-shaped domes. In front of the building is the Gomti River. A man is standing on the shore in the foreground facing the Chattar Manzil, and a small group of Indian men are gathered at the edge of the river to the left.

This is one of a series of photographs from a published volume documenting the tour the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, made of India in 1875-76. During his visit the Prince attended a ball at the Chattar Manzil, which was at the time used as a recreation space for the United Service Club.

Presented to Alexandra, Princess of Wales by her husband the Prince of Wales at Christmas 1876
