After his employment as official photographer of the USGS ended in 1878, W.H. Jackson opened a commercial studio in Denver. His commissions included advertising photographs for railroad companies, such as the Denver and Rio Grande. This photograph shows a Denver and Rio Grande train passing through the Marshall Pass.
