Ribbon contains a portrait of Grover Cleveland directly engraved on plastic; most of the ink used to fill the grooves of the engraving has washed away. Ribbon was used by a "Civic Escort to President Elect Grover Cleveland" from the "New York Business Men's Cleveland & Stevenson Clubs" at the March 4, 1893 Presidential inauguration.
White card mounted on the back of the ribbon reads "MANUFACTURED BY THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. / RIBBON BADGE MAKERS / 167 MARKET ST. / NEWARK, N.J. / WAVING FLAG PAT. JAN. 14, 1892 / SILK PIN PAT. OCT. 18, 1892 / OTHER PATENTS PENDING".
