Unidentified photographer 1880, 13 March Portrait of two men both with umbrellas and one carrying a fan
Ambrotype, kiri wood case Private collection of Jack and Beverly Wilgus (Beverly Wilgus, 18 May 2020) A Japanese friend has translated the writing on the lid for us. It reads "Photographed March 13th 1880" and the name of the photographer. The top of the lid, Our friend thinks the characters on the fan the young man is holding suggest the phrase "Let your righteousness climb in your life like the pigeon soars".
